Dexamox Ophthalmic Solution 5ml

✔️ Moxifloxacin & Dexamethasone eye drops are prescribed for:

• Treatment of eye infections caused by susceptible microorganisms.
• Prevention of bacterial infections and inflammation following eye surgery.

✔️ Side Effects of Dexamox Ophthalmic Solution

Moxifloxacin-related:

• Conjunctivitis
• Decreased visual clarity
• Dry eyes
• Keratitis
• Eye discomfort
• Redness (hyperemia)
• Eye pain
• Subconjunctival hemorrhage
• Excessive tearing

Dexamethasone-related:

• Blurred vision or defects in the visual field
• Cataract formation
• Secondary eye infections due to immune suppression
• Perforation of the eyeball in some cases

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Dexamox Ophthalmic Solution

For post-surgical infection prevention & inflammation control:

• Before eye surgery: Instill 1 drop, 4 times daily, starting 1 day before surgery and continue for 15 days after surgery.

For cataract surgery patients:

• On the day of surgery: Administer immediately after the procedure.

For LASIK refractive surgery patients:

• On the day of surgery: Administer at least 15 minutes after the procedure.

For bacterial eye infections:

Instill 1 drop, 4 times daily for up to 7 days.

Note: Always follow the dosage prescribed by a registered physician.

Elderly Patients: No dosage adjustment is required.

Children: Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established.

✔️ Dexamox Ophthalmic Solution should not be used in patients with:

• Allergies to quinolones or any components of the formulation.
• Glaucoma or conditions that cause thinning of the cornea or sclera.
• Viral eye infections, including:
• Epithelial herpes simplex keratitis (dendritic keratitis)
• Vaccinia and varicella infections
• Other viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva
• Mycobacterial or fungal eye infections.

✔️ Use in Pregnancy & Lactation

• There are no well-controlled studies on the use of Moxifloxacin & Dexamethasone eye drops in pregnant women.
• Use only if the potential benefits outweigh the risks to the fetus.
• Caution is advised for nursing mothers.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

Discontinue use if an allergic reaction occurs and consult a doctor.

Prolonged steroid use may lead to:

• Increased intraocular pressure (IOP), leads to glaucoma and optic nerve damage.
• Visual defects and cataract formation.
• Increased risk of secondary infections.
• Regular eye pressure monitoring is necessary for long-term users.
• Patients with corneal or scleral thinning should be used with caution, as perforations may occur.
• In acute purulent eye conditions, steroids may mask infections or worsen existing ones.

✔️ Storage Instructions

• Store below 30°C, away from direct light.
• Once opened, use within 28 days.
• Can be stored at room temperature (below 30°C) after opening.
• Discard after 28 days.
• Keep out of reach of children.
